 Lake Lure is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. The lake covers over 700 acres with more than 20 miles of shoreline. Lake Lure was selected by National Geographic as one of the Ten Most Spectacular man-made lakes in the World. The Rocky Broad River is a series of rapids flowing down through Hickory Nut Gorge, feeding into Lake Lure. Lake Lure is located 14 miles east of Hendersonville.
The lake offers a marina, boat tours, motorized and non-motorized boat rentals, fishing, public swimming, a sandy beach and a water park with slides & water cannons.The Marina is open 7 days a week from 10:00AM-6:00 PM from April 1st - October 31st. Many landmarks and attractions in the Town of Lake Lure were used in filming the legendary Patrick Swayze movie, Dirty Dancing.
