Dupont State Forest's Tour de Falls is a 12 mile tour by shuttle bus to four of DuPont State Forest’s spectacular sites: Triple Falls, High Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and Lake Julia. Shuttle buses will leave the parking area approximately every 30 minutes from 9:00 am until 2:30 pm. The Friends of DuPont Forest sponsors the tour twice a year, Mother's Day weekend and in October. Visitors should bring snacks and water, as there are no food concessions. Triple Falls and High Falls have covered shelters with picnic tables.
The forest encompasses 10,300 acres in Henderson and Transylvania counties. It is situated in the Little River valley and includes waterfalls and 80 miles of roads and trails wandering through mountainous terrain. The forest is open year round for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Fishing is allowed with a valid NC fishing license. Hunting is by special permit only, issued by a permit agent of the NC Wildlife Resources Commission. The North Carolina Division of Forest Resources manages the forest.
The parking lot for the tour is located at 1300 Staton Road (N35E.11.356', W082E.37.425') in Cedar Mountain, NC, which is just up the road from the High Falls access area. Advance reservations are not taken.
A donation of $6 for ages 6 - 17 and $12 for ages 18 & up by cash or check is requested. Credit cards are not accepted.
Buses are not handicap-accessible.
Pets are not allowed on the buses.
