Cherokee Indian Reservation in Cherokee, North Carolina, where Cherokee Indians have lived for centuries, is located on the border of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The 56,000 acre Reservation is still linked to ancient customs, culture, history, traditions, and arts & crafts. The Eastern Cherokee history, culture, and crafts are portrayed in the historical drama Unto These Hills, performed annually during the summer season. The Oconaluftee Indian Village is a 18th century replica of a Cherokee community with Cherokee guides in native costume explaining their history, the culture and life-style of their ancestors, and arts and crafts.demonstrations.
